How to Look Expensive: Part 3 - Colors

Well, the easiest way to look expensive is actually to buy pricey stuff. But what if you can't afford expensive clothing?

This is my third blog on the subject. It is dedicated to colors that will aid you looking classy and expensive. In my first blog, I talked in general about styles and outfits, where to shop, which clothing staples to add to your closet, etc. My second blog was dedicated to wearing all-white.

How to Look Expensive part 2: White Color

1. Neutral Colors: Beige.

Here are my inspirational outfits from all tones of beige.

Wearing beige in more high-quality materials like wool, cashmere, linen, silk, etc., will make the clothes look very expensive and elegant. It’s a very old money feel to this look, and these are colors that work all year round.

    2. Neutral Colors: Earth tones

Other neutral tones are all other earth tones. Many of them originate from clay earth pigments, such as umber, ochre, and sienna. Earth tones are a mixture or tonalities of browns and tans, which can include richer colors containing some brown, such as orange, red, green, yellow, purple, and blue. They tend to more muted and flat colors.

    3. Pastels

It’s a subtle and classy color that works on most skin tones and hair colors. It’s also the number one fashion trend when spring starts, as year after year the fashion houses produce apparel in lovely pastels as it carries a summery feel. It makes pastels timeless fashion that works year after year – well worth investing your money in!

What are pastels anyway? The colors of this family are usually described as "soothing", "soft", "near neutral", "milky", "washed out", "desaturated", and lacking strong chromatic content. So they are light pink, light blue, light green, aqua, soft lavender, cream, ivory, white, light grey.

Pastels are such classy colors that they make casual outfits with jeans shorts and sweatpants look put together and classy.

      4. Black and White combo

For those who are not so hyped on the summer trend of being colorful, wearing black and white is a perfect alternative. I personally feel this color combination is very timeless and elegant, it just never runs out of style.

In black and white color combination, I personally prefer the elegant-looking polka dot pattern. For more, read my blog Polka Dot Outfit Ideas.

      5. Wearing all-white color

      6. Wearing all black

Black is the absence of color. Black is a mysterious color that is typically associated with the unknown. The color black represents strength, seriousness, power, and authority. Black is a formal, elegant, and prestigious color.

      7.  Color combinations of black, beige, tan, nude, gray, white and pastels

I think the colors above are the easiest style hack to instantly upgrade your look to appear more expensive. However, stylish women who know how to choose designs with flattering cuts, who know how to style, who know how to correctly match colors, accessories, who know that other aspects like ironing your clothes, having immaculate hair and makeup, manicure, etc., those women manage to always look classy, expensive and very put-together despite the color they are wearing. They look classy and expensive even in jeans, sweaters, and shorts. Please, read my first blog "How to look expensive if you are on a Budget" if you want to know more.

      8. Other colors

I mentioned above the easiest color hack for upgrading your look. How you look also depends on a lot of other factors, how you match colors for example. Here is the example, of very stylish, classy, and expensive-looking women wearing bright colors, pushing an envelope with their fashion and looking amazing. Notice that the bright color is often being offset by pairing it with pastel or neutral to give any outfit a more elegant feel.
